MADELAIN Gustave (1867 / 1944)
Gustave MADELAIN (1867-1944) is a French painter.
His paintings are true testimonies of daily life in Paris in the 1930s.
Exhibiting at the Salon des Indépendants since 1907, he had acquired a reputation as a painter of river quays. “We owe him numerous paintings painted in Le Havre, Rouen and naturally in Paris.”
“MADELAIN leaves an almost complete sampling, treated with great sensitivity, of these most picturesque corners of Paris, with a predilection for the quays and bridges.”
